Okay so my kids are the only ones in their preschool class that don't know how to write their own names (whoops...there's one for the "bad mommy" file). But we've started working on it and here are the results:
Isn't that just so adorable?
So far David hasn't been able to sit still long enough to master it yet, but he did paint this today for his grandpa:
Love the painting--chalk is a lot of fun, too. Playdough is awesome for hand-strengthening and manipulation skills.
Name-writing at this age is more drawing than writing and may lead to problems re-teaching formations later. Your time would help them more if you teach them pre-writing skills--with big crayons or sidewalk chalk until they can pinch smaller tools. Teach them to make vertical lines (top to bottom) and horizontal lines (left to right) Have them make ladders or railroad tracks, combining the two. Have them make circles (always starting at the top and going left) and other shapes in shaving cream with dominant pointer finger. Teach them "thumbs up" for good effort/job! Have them stand at an easel or lie on tummy to do art work, do wheelbarrow with each other, and scoop seeds out of your jack-o-lantern pumpkin! Have fun! Rose
Lincoln doesn't know how to write his name either. He has actually never shown an interest in even learning the alphabet. When I used to sing the ABC's he would ask me to stop. Then I bought the Leap Frog alphabet magnets & when I pushed the button to make it sing he would turn it off. I just have to remind myself every kid learns differently & in a different way. Good job teaching your kids to spell their names - they did a great job!!

Life and it's demands! Even on 3 year olds. Wow! How cute are they? So DANG cute! I love them!
And I bet NONE of the other kids are raised in a family of triplets either! No name calling on moms, even yourself!! Moms are the best no matter what!
